Our Lawyers’ Testimonials
“I have had the opportunity to work both personally and professionally with Mr. Noorduyn. As a former mortgage broker, I always referred clients to him for assistance closing mortgages if they did not have their own lawyer. There was never a complaint or an error on any file. Ben would often got the extra mile with elderly or fragile clients, ensuring everything was done properly and fully explained. On a personal note, after having some difficulties with a former employer, I turned to Ben for advice on how to deal with a very hostile work environment. Ben immediately counselled me on a few points, set my mind at ease that it was not I, but the employer who was inappropriate. Together we put a plan in motion to deal with the employer. He is a very conscientious, knowledgeable, and trustworthy lawyer. If he takes your case, I am confident it will be handled exceptionally.”

The Story Of Martin Estate and Injury Law
Our Founder
Melody Martin
LL.M, LL.B, M.S.W, B.A
Did you know Melody graduated from Harvard Law School with a Master’s degree in law? She was selected from the top law students nationally for a clerkship at the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa. The winner of many academic awards, she earned four university degrees by age 24. She was the first graduate of the University of Toronto’s combined Law and Master’s of Social Work degree program.
In her youth Melody loved public speaking, theatre and writing which drew her to law. She has always been passionate about justice. She began her career as a criminal defense lawyer and then became a prosecutor as agent for the Department of Justice. Later her interest in medicine led her to become a personal injury lawyer for more than 25 years both in the lower mainland and in the Okanagan. Her current legal interests include estate law.
Melody is known as a fearless courtroom lawyer. She is also a skilled negotiator, having achieved many successes for her clients outside of court and in mediation. Her clients describe her as caring, warm, confident, knowledgeable and reassuring.
Back in 2014, Melody founded this law firm alone without any staff in a three-room office in Vernon. Since then it has grown rapidly to become one of the largest law firms in the North Okanagan with brick and mortar offices in Vernon, Lake Country and Kelowna and remote lawyers and staff in the lower mainland. Female-founded large law firms are rare and sometimes people ask for “Mr. Martin” because they can’t believe this large business is run by a woman.
Melody is a sought-after lawyer and she continues to be the principal of Martin Estate and Injury Law. In 2022 she celebrated 25 years as a lawyer. She is a strong supporter of small and local businesses and offers her mentorship for young people who are considering going into law. She is also devoted to animals, particularly dogs, who can often be found walking the halls of Martin Estate and Injury Law.
